Always ask for feedback

One of your questions at interview should be “who can I ask for feedback from this please? (regardless of the outcome)”. They may say they don’t give any – however most will give you some comments. Think how much you could learn about how to do it better next time!

If you don’t say it, they can’t mark it

If you don’t mention something at interview they often can’t give you credit for the skill or experience they’re testing you for – even if it’s on your application form or they know you personally. So – say everything out loud so they can put a tick on their scoresheet.

Whenever possible, say "I" not "we"

The interviewer wants to know what you did / what you think / what you can offer the role and the team. It’s often hard and slightly embarrassing – however you need to tell them what you made happen – especially if it’s something others wouldn’t have thought of or done.
